Syringe Painting
I am self taught Artist, and love experimenting! I discovered my own unique technique I'd like to call Syringe painting.
Being a nurse by profession..... I feel more comfortable with a syringe than with a brush!
Here I load the syringe with fluid paint... sometimes a fluid gel and 'caress' the surface of the canvas in short bursts, long lines, curves, dots or spirials depending on the need. This splatter of paint gives the painting an interesting effect. It's a very tedious process and a finished piece could take several weeks!
The several layers of paint have to sync well to give the overall painting a good effect.... the end result is like a conductor feeling the music of her orchestra!
Having lived in Goa for most part of my life I love to recreate it's scenic beauty through my artwork using this technique. My latest work now lies in transferring these Goan muses of landscapes into an Abstract mosaic of colour and texture adding another dimension to my composition.
After years of experimentation, I have successfully recreated the crisscrossing of the horizontal/vertical strands of ‘thread’ at right angles aesthetically forming intricate block patterns of the body of the fabric on canvas. For this I use acrylic paste. This ‘Kunbi Weave’ and decorative borders allow me to reinterpret the essence of our ancient Goan legacy. Currently, I am exploring the Azulejo style, a Portuguese art form, that can be seen in our land which basks in its western influences through its history.
